I think you should hold on to this guy! He sounds very helpful and willing to go the extra step--a rarity these days!

The skeptic in me agrees that you shouldn't jinx yourself by promoting him by name quite yet--but it sounds like props are going to be due when this job is done!

Congrats on finding such a great contractor. It looks like you'll have a truly lovely home when it's all done. I'm anxious to see the finished product.

Thanks for dropping by Red Hill.

I am having a flash back to the master bath Joey and I tried creating in our house. We wanted to keep the original fir floors and have them refinished, but when the floor crew came out to do them they basically refused to the job because we didn't have a subfloor beneath our fir floor boards. They were concerned that water would drip between the floor boards on to the drywall ceiling below them. We were so torn about listening to them or just going ahead with our plan to keep the wood floor. Do you have a subfloor? Your bathroom is going to look beautiful with that wood floor! I hate how chilly our tiles are in the morning.

Wow! How nice! He sounds great! I had a few contractors come by, but when I called them back, I never heard from them again. Most of them didn't even show up for the first appointment. Sounds like you lucked out!

Lookin' good! Any chance you wanna send your contractor down to Central Texas for a few days?

We're sanding and staining our floors this weekend. I'm curious to see how badly we screw it up.

Looks like things are going well. It's good that you've found someone with the same work sensibility as you - and in the same neighborhood. I'm sure that makes it a bit better for your bottom line, as he doesn't have to commute so far.

I think you're onto something with regard to judging a contractor by his or her house. I wouldn't base it so much on the condition of the house right now - after all, the shoemaker's children seem to always have bare feet - but rather upon its potential. For someone who works on houses, I think the sort of house that they choose for themselves says a lot.

Of course, this may just be my way of attempting to make an arbitrary decision easier.
