I'm so glad to hear positives about the paint color! I decided last minute to do a lighter gold color, but the painter had remembered me telling him I wanted that one so he had already gotten the paint! In all honesty, I really don't like picking out colors and I went back and forth about twenty times. I'm sure I drove Shane crazy! :-)

The cabinets are quarter-sawn-oak and we did a dark stain called mission. I think Shane mentioned in his comment above me that the company was running a special on them.

You guys are making unbelievable progress! The paint color is fabulous, and the cabinets--wow!! Is that quarter-sawn oak? They're going to be perfect with the walls. I cannot wait to see this room come together. You guys have made some beautiful choices!

Jen: Yeah, it is pretty messy outside. When they first got here this morning though, it wasn't too bad. Now you can see about 10 feet in front of you tops. Driving home from work is going to be a blast.

Liz: The cabinets are by the brand Dura Supreme. We are paying a good chunk of change (at least for us) to get these cabinets. The original cabinets in the kitchen were valued around $3,000 (Menards off the shelf variety) according to insurance. The ones that we are doing are almost double that, so there is a significant personal investment in these. The quarter sawn oak was a promotion they were doing where we got it for the same price as the "standard" wood. If we were doing a full replacement without insurance, I would probably have gone with a cheaper brand.

And don't worry about feeling like we are moving fast or anything. If I was the one doing all the work instead of the contractors, I would be done in a few years.

Wow! Very impressive. Your kitchen is going to be fantastic when it's finished. You have completely motivated me to get my butt in gear and get moving on our kitchen! If you don't mind me asking, where are you getting your cabinets from? I've been amazed by how pricey they can get. Thanks!

Wow! I'm amazed that 1. you got so many people to show up during a blizzard (although, it hasn't been much of a blizzard down here in the cities... mostly rain with about 4 snowflakes added in), and 2. that you're getting stuff done so fast! That kitchen will be gorgeous when you guys are done with it!
